The Dewhurst for Texas Senate campaign today released “Values,” a new :30 television ad featuring former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee describing David Dewhurst’s commitment to social and fiscal conservative principles.

“I’ve been proud to work with Governor Rick Perry and the Texas Legislature to pass the most pro-family, pro-growth legislation in America,” said David Dewhurst. “I will fight to bring the Texas model to Washington to stop President Obama’s war on our economy and traditional values.”

Dewhurst For Texas Unveils Texas Law Enforcement Coalition

The Dewhurst for Texas campaign unveiled its Texas Law Enforcement Coalition, highlighting the endorsements of the most influential law enforcement associations in Texas, including the Texas chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT), and the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA).

Dewhurst has made it his commitment to ensure the security and safety of all Texans, and has worked closely with the law enforcement community to strengthen criminal penalties for sexual predators of children, honor the fallen men and women of law enforcement, and develop legislation that allows law enforcement to do their jobs as effectively as possible.

President Obama’s Policies Lead to Shrinking Workforce

U.S. Senate candidate David Dewhurst released the following statement today on the disastrous effects President Barack Obama’s policies continue to have on the American economy.

“The economy continues to suffer under President Barack Obama’s anti-business policies, and today’s anemic employment numbers are a painful reminder of the millions of Americans that remain out of work,” said David Dewhurst. “The first step in getting our economy back on track is to send President Obama back to Chicago.”

According to the Labor Department, the number of people not in the labor force rose by 522,000 in April, from 87,897,000 to 88,419,000. The percentage of Americans looking for work fell to the lowest level in more than 30 years. Dewhurst said he will take his proven record and the tested Texas business model to Washington to help put Americans back to work.

“As a lifelong businessman, I understand that to jumpstart our economy and create millions of new jobs, we need to produce a stable tax and regulatory environment that encourages American businesses to invest in the economy and create jobs. Using proven Texas principles, the Lone Star State has become the best job-creating state in the nation, with 1.3 million new jobs created over the last nine years. Dewhurst for Texas Launches New Website

Dewhurst for Texas announced today the launch of a new website, www.realtedcruz.com. The website chronicles the story of American businessman Jordan Fishman, whose blueprints for an innovative tire design were stolen by a Chinese company, Shandong Linglong. After being found liable in federal court on all counts (see below) and ordered to pay $26 million in damages, Shandong Linglong hired trial lawyer Ted Cruz to appeal the decision and delay justice for Mr. Fishman.

David Dewhurst Signs Pledge to Repeal the Death Tax

Dewhurst for Texas announced today that David Dewhurst signed the Death Tax Repeal Pledge, promising to support the permanent repeal of the federal estate and gift taxes. In signing the pledge, Dewhurst acknowledged that taxing family business owners and farmers at a punitive rate simply because they have died is unfair, unwise and only doubles or even triples taxes on Americans when they are already paying too much.

“I am fully committed to reducing taxes for Americans in the United States Senate, as I have done many times for Texas taxpayers as Lieutenant Governor,” said David Dewhurst. “In today’s economic times, reducing taxes and giving money back to the taxpayers is a top priority and the best solution for returning our country to prosperity and growth.”

Currently, the estate tax rate is 35%, but it is set to return to 55% in 2013. By signing the pledge, sponsored by the American Family Business Institute, Dewhurst vows to support legislation permanently repealing this tax that hurts family business owners and farmers. By eliminating the death tax, jobs can be restored and America can take one step closer to economic recovery.

David Dewhurst Issues Statement on Increasing Tax Burden

U.S. Senate candidate David Dewhurst released the following statement on Tax Day, discussing the need to go to Washington to cut taxes and grow the economy:

“Taxes are too high and Americans pay too many of them,” said David Dewhurst. The last thing we need in Washington during these difficult times are higher taxes. Too often, the federal government tells job creators to ‘Open your Wallet’ and pay us more. I will take my proven record of cutting taxes in Texas to Washington and push to cut the corporate tax rate in half, cut personal income taxes for all Americans, and repeal the death tax.”

The U.S. currently has the highest corporate tax rate in the world and according to the Heritage Foundation, 18 new taxes from Obamacare will begin next year, leading to a $494 billion tax increase. In addition to cutting the corporate tax rate in half and cutting personal income taxes, Dewhurst believes we need cut federal taxes across the board, for individuals and businesses. Dewhurst has also stressed the need to simplify our tax code so it’s flatter, fairer, and easier to comply with.

Dewhurst is the only candidate in the race with a track record of successfully defeating and opposing tax increases in Texas. Over the last nine years, Dewhurst has balanced five consecutive budgets without raising taxes and he helped pass the largest tax cut in Texas history for homeowners and businesses. Additionally, Dewhurst is responsible for helping pass 51 pieces of legislation cutting taxes and fees, resulting in a savings of more than $14 billion to Texas taxpayers.
